To give your puppy the best start in life it is essential that he or she socialises with other dogs and humans from a young age.
Puppies are not fully protected by their vaccines until around 12 weeks old, but by this time they have already missed out on a vital stage of their socialisation process.
Our puppy classes are designed to encourage this socialisation in an informal environment, dealing with basic obedience training and handling. The classes are run by a qualified animal behaviourist or veterinary nurse, giving you the opportunity to discuss both training and health issues.
Our classes are suitable for puppies aged between 9 and 16 weeks approximately and puppies are able to start the class from one week after having their first vaccination.
We cover a combination of health and training issues each week, along with plenty of socialisation and play time for the pups.
As the classes are held in our clinic your puppy also forms a positive association with a veterinary environment , meaning that future visits as an adult dog are far less stressful for everyone involved. In fact, many of our puppy party graduates eagerly drag their owners through the door!
During the classes your puppy will become accustomed to the consult table and the weighing scales while we discuss topics such as neutering, microchipping and correct nutrition. The puppies are encouraged to play in a suitable manner with each other and we show you how to teach them some basic obedience commands. Help and advice is readily available on those ever familiar issues, toilet training and how to deal with puppy biting!

By the time your puppy has outgrown our playgroup he or she will be well prepared and ready to move on to a more structured obedience class to continue their training.
