Animal Health Trust

A charity dedicated to improving our knowledge of animal diseases. What we think: Information about the charity, but also some excellent information about inherited diseases and skin problems in dogs (look under “science” section)

Blue Cross

An animal charity involved in pet re-homing and veterinary assistance .What we think: Also includes information about the pet bereavement service they run in conjunction with the Society for Companion Animal Studies

British Small Animal Veterinary Association

The professional body of vets in small animal practice. What we think: Includes a site for pet owners.

Davies Veterinary Specialties

A private referral facility offering first class care to pets with complex problems. What we think: You will need to arrange referral via our practice should one become necessary

DEFRA PETS Travel Scheme

Up to date information on the PETS travel scheme. What we think: Very useful if you are planning on travelling overseas with your pet

Feline Advisory Bureau

The prime organisation promoting the health and welfare of cats. What we think: A must for any cat owner

National Pet Week

Information on general pet care and on the annual Pet Week. What we think: A very well designed site

PDSA

An animal charity providing assistance to pet owners unable to afford normal veterinary fees. What we think: A well designed site that contains lots of useful information about responsible pet ownership

 

 

Pet Plan

The country’s leading pet insurance company. What we think: An opportunity to take out pet insurance on-line – if you don’t already have it!

Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons

The governing body of the veterinary profession in the UK; What we think: Information about professional conduct, and working as a veterinary surgeon or a veterinary nurse. Also a “Find a Vet” facility (if you’re not in reach of Blythwood!)

Royal Veterinary College

Many of our referral cases are sent to the Queen Mother Hospital here. What we think: You will need to arrange referral via our practice should one become necessary

Our local RSPCA branch: What we think: This RSPCA branch does excellent work within our area. Contact them if you need assistance or if you are able to support their work.

A search engine for lost, found, and homeless pets in the UK. What we think:  A commercial company, but the search facility seems to be free of charge on the internet at the moment

A US pet information site: What we think: Contains a lot of very detailed information on health problems in pets

A UK site for pet information: What we think: An excellent source of pet care advice
