Does your pet have a waistline? Sometimes it can be difficult to tell! If your pet has a big coat or is generally large for their breed. You should be able to easily feel their ribs and when looking from behind,  their waist line should be clearly visable. If you are not sure why not bring in your animal for a free weight check with one of our qualified veterinary nurse’s?

Did you know that over 50% of animals in the UK are overweight? We run a free weight clinic to help your pet get back to their former glory, with the support of one of our nurses.

Pedicures
Blythwood Vete

Nurses also carry out pedicures for dogs, cats and rabbits, and this will cost less than an appointment with a vet. This helps to prevent their nails (especially dewclaws) being caught and torn on things like carpet and often becomes important as a pet becomes elderly.

In particular, elderly cats nails can tend not to shed anymore and therefore may grow right around and into their pad, causing them pain and infection, so should be checked regularly.
