Our state of the art portable doppler ultrasound machine enables us to have a look at the body’s “soft tissues” far better than can be seen with an X-ray machine.

This machine can also show the flow of blood through organs including the heart, helping to pick-up abnormalities. Ultrasound can also be used to help when taking samples from an animal.

Ultrasound

We have two ECG (electrocardiogaphy) units, one analogue (with the classical paper printout), which is best for detecing clinical abnormalities in dogs or cats with suspected heart problems.

Our digital unit is used primarily for monitoring high-risk patients during anaesthesia.

Electrocardiography

Hatch End, Bushey & Stanmore are equipped with the most modern in-house blood testing facilities available, that enable us to provide accurate blood results in less than an hour.

This gives us rapid results for acutely ill animals, as well as being able to test in house for some chronic conditions. We also have access to a specialist external laboratory who can run a more diverse array of tests, usually within 24 – 48 hours.

Blood Analysis

As part of our mission to deliver the highest level of care for small animals, we have invested in some of the most advanced diagnostic imaging equipment and expertise available.

Both Bushey and Hatch End are equipped with an X-ray suite. X-rays can be very useful for visualising problems with bones, as well as organ size and homogenicity.

We can also use X-rays to help find foreign bodies that an animal may have swallowed! As well as taking “plain” X-rays, we can also take “contrast” images using specialist material to highlight areas of interest.
